Migration Toolkit | HTF

Design system migration, with a clear record.

Runs locally

Start with the file you have

Move a design system
with a clear plan.

Inspect references, map old assets to new ones, then review exactly which supported properties will change. Keep a readable record of the result.

Inspect before editing.See variables, styles, instances and protection rules.
Review each mapping.Choose targets and exclude individual changes.
Verify the result.Check applied changes and remaining references.

What should we inspect?

Advanced inspection options

Up to 25,000 layers, 3,000 assets and 5,000 operations per run. Incomplete inspections cannot be applied. Main component contents and locked layers are excluded from layer changes.

New to migration? The sample adds a separate page with Legacy/ and Client/ assets so you can inspect a complete example.

Apply the reviewed plan?

Only selected ready operations will be attempted. If an operation fails, the plugin will attempt to restore its changed properties and report any recovery failures. Keep Figma and this plugin open while it runs.

Try a sample migration.

In Figma, this adds a separate sample page, a local variable collection, styles and two components. Existing pages are not edited. If this plugin already created a sample page in this file, it opens that page without resetting it.

Use Legacy/ as the source prefix and Client/ as the target prefix, then choose Suggest exact matches.

Reusable work, kept locally.

Recipes are mappings, not executable scripts. Target packs identify assets by Figma keys. Across files, target libraries must be published and accessible to your account. Figma plan and library permissions still apply.

Moving to assets in another file?
Inspect the target library file, capture its targets, then open the design file and inspect again. Published target definitions can be loaded during preview with your permission.

No target pack loaded.

CSS exports use the first mode only, do not infer numeric units and omit aliases they cannot safely represent. JSON retains all captured modes and aliases. Inventory exports are not full-file backups.

Delete this saved recipe?

Your current mappings, design file and exported recipes stay available. Deletion never requires Pro.

Create an editable reference page?

This adds a new Figma page for up to 100 inventoried local variables and styles. It is a static reference, not a synced library. It does not edit existing pages. Inspect again afterwards before applying a migration.

Help with your migration

Inspection and preview are free. Pro adds applying migrations, saved recipes, JSON/CSS export and an editable reference-page generator. Pro uses Figma's native one-time checkout.

Supported: recognised scalar variable bindings; solid paint colour bindings; supported effect bindings; text-range typography bindings; paint, text, effect and grid style references; optional local variable aliases and paint-style definitions; unbound solid colours and selected spacing/radius values.

Components: compatible flat structures with matching child names and compatible text/boolean properties. Nested instances, slots, scaled instances and unsupported overrides are skipped. The plugin does not promise preservation of every possible override or prototype relationship.

Text-content bindings and font-identity variable bindings are excluded. Text-style migration requires available fonts and skips manual typography overrides. Main component contents are excluded from layer edits. Raw values with the same number or colour can have different meanings.

Safety: use a duplicate/version backup. A preview can become stale. Keep Figma open while running. Recovery is limited to supported properties recorded in the current plugin session. Imported target definitions remain in the document when restoring a run.

Privacy: no analytics, AI calls, external API keys or network requests from this plugin. Figma provides the editor, asset imports, client storage and checkout. Recipes and target packs stay on this client. Downloads may contain private asset/layer names and IDs; review them before sharing. No support messages are sent automatically.
